Friendship Friday

I am switching gears from our traditional themes to gear up for Easter over the next few days. I wasn't thinking about Easter when I started this project 21 days ago. Since today would have been a holiday, we took the day off of school. Along with the religious celebrations of the day, today was focused on our friends.
1) We created Peep baskets. We love to go Boo'ing at Halloween, so last year I came up with Peep'ing, which I know sounds slightly creepy but hear me out. Peep as in candy peeps, get it?! We make little baskets and I created a little rhyme to include on the note. The pictures are hard to see because I foolishly selected white writing on a pink background when I first printed these last year. It says "You have been Peep'd, so enjoy your special treats. It is kind of funny to be someone's secret Easter Bunny. It isn't too hard, just make a copy of this card. Within two days or maybe more, leave a secret basket on someone's front door."
We made up several with all of the bags, buckets, and baskets we had on hand. I was able to get some candy delivered this week to fill it. We delivered several to our neighbors and friends homes.

2) We also made all kinds of cards today. The girls made Easter cards for friends and I shipped off my quarantine cards. If you are still reading the blog at this point, here is where you realize I have officially lost my mind. I love to make cards for all holidays and my friend Vennessa joked and asked when she would be receiving her quarantine card. I found it tempting and a fun thing to do during these uncertain times. I didn't think Shutterfly would even be operational but I ordered them and they came a few days later. So we decorated and mailed those off today.

3) We had several FaceTime calls with friends. Lisey is still having a hard time, she usually gets upset during or after a call. When she isn't talking to her friends, she is in an "out of sight, out of mind" mentality. But the minute she talks to them she gets really upset. I am still trying to find the balance but today went pretty well.
I have been thinking about the question "what are you most looking forward to when this is all said and done?" My answer is getting to see my kids be around their family and friends. As adults you can adapt and go on but it is heartbreaking to see my kids miss all of their friends and activities. I have enjoyed creating a fun distraction for them but it can't make up for the friends they miss. I know I will cherish the first time I watch them give someone a hug.
