Avery's school jogathon would have taken place yesterday. She mentioned earlier in the week how bummed she was to miss it. So she asked if we could put together our own jogathon in our backyard. I thought it was a great idea for Sports Saturday! The girls picked a cause- No Kid Goes Hungry to help support families who are food insecure. They recently did some collection and work for a food pantry so it is a cause they are familiar with and understood. So we set up a Go Fund Me page with a goal of 100 dollars and they committed to 30 laps. gf.me/u/xumanh

Yesterday, during Fashion Friday, they created their Jogathon shirts using simple Sharpie markers on old t-shirts. The next morning we set up our track in our backyard and made a sign to thank our sponsors.
The jogathon kicked off with some lively music and was emceed by DJ Mommy. Thankfully this DJ didn't take any Kids Bop requests. I will loose my mind if we hear anymore Kids Bop during this locked down.
Ready, Set, Go!
I thought Avery would crush Elise, but Elise turned the tables and just crushed it! She lapped her older sister by about lap 6. I have never seen that child run with that kind of speed. Sibling rivalry is a powerful motivator! This of course upset Avery who was shocked by Elise's strong early lead. She threatened to quit but she got over and did finished her 30 laps. Elise helped her across the finish line in a cheesy made for TV movie dramatic fashion.
We celebrated success with some Popsicles. The girls have been loving making our own popsicles everyday. We ran out of store bought popsicles and they have been difficult to have delivered. So homemade pops have been another fun activity for the girls.
In total they raised 300 dollars that I will collect and donate tomorrow to No Kid Hungry. It was nice to give them some physical activity and have them motivated to do something for others. I highly recommend creating your own jogathon!
