A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far, Away…
A family was in hiding from the evil COV-19 Empire. The force was strong with this family and they spent their days training their two young Padawans to battle against this evil COV-19 empire. Their rigorous Jedi training included social distancing, Netflix binging, and all-day snacking. Fortunately, for this family there was a large band of brave resistance fighters across the galaxy fighting every day to destroy the evil COV-19. Resistance fighters such as the HCP Heroes, 1st Responder Rebels, Delivery Droids, Food Fighters, the CDC High Command and their brave leader, NIH Jedi Master Fauci were out fighting every day. The galaxy had not seen an empire this evil in more than 100 years, but the family believed the resistance would rise to destroy it, that the light side would prevail, and the galaxy would once again be free. Thank you to the Resistance! May the Force be with you!
We are a Star Wars Loving Family, so we had Star Wars Halloween costumes from a few years ago and left over supplies from my daughter’s 3rd Star Wars themed birthday party. If you have kids, you likely have some Star Wars stuff somewhere in your house. If not, there is plenty online to download.
Some fun Star Wars Activities:
· Send you kids on rebel spy missions like cleaning their room or emptying the dishwasher. I hid an action figure for them to find as part of the mission.
· Draw a Jedi training obstacle course outside or create one indoors for exercise.
· Build a spaceship in your house. The bed is a great place to build a pillow space ship and head out on an adventure.
· Let them battle it out with Light Sabers. If you don’t have one, a pool noodle will do. They enjoyed being able to hit each other and not get in trouble.
· Set up a Star Wars scene with your action figures or LEGOS.
· Freeze Han in Carbonite (the freezer) Also fun to do in Jello if you have it.
· Go to the library (your bookcase) and check out all your Star Wars books and books on space for free reading time. Have them write up something on their favorite character.
· Create a Jedi Lunch/Dinner. You can find a sign to creatively label just about any food. The tie fighters were their favorite. You cannot go wrong with a snack that includes both cheese and Cheez-its.
· Printable signs available between 6-8 dollars on Etsy for fun signs and labels. They cost between $5-$8 to download and you will look like a hero,
· Watch a Star Wars movie. We have been watching all the Star Wars movies in order. We started watching over Xmas break and watched The Force Awakens last night. My 6 year old didn’t expect a main character to die. She cried for a good thirty minutes and told me it was the worst day of her life. Sigh. Sometimes you can’t get it right no matter how hard you try.
