If ever there was a relatable princess right now, it is Rapunzel. Being stuck inside with tons of crafts and chores but no where to go? Hmm that sounds familiar. The theme worked out well because I woke up with a head ache and was totally channeling my inner Mother Gothel all day. And with my grays hair growing in and no Botox appointments in sight, I am going to look like old Mother Gothel in no time. I embraced my character but everyone quickly grew tired of me singing "Mother Knows Best" all day long.
We did a Rapunzel party a few years back and had hoards of stuff left for today's theme including a cut out I had been keeping in the garage. I forgot I had put her out the night before and she freaked me out when I came down stairs in the morning.
Fortunately, both girls have a Rapunzel costume. If you are one of the few people following this blog you might be wondering why I have a zillion costumes. I had kids late in life, so I got everyone's hand me downs. In addition to that blessing, I have a cousin that works for Disney Store corporate, so our costume cabinet looks like the basement of an old Hollywood studio. It is perpetually a mess but it sure has been fun during this lock down!
We started our day off by locking both girls in their room just like Rapunzel! Just kidding! We actually started our day off with breakfast in frying pans while listening to the soundtrack. We then checked out our Rapunzel books from our "library" including the 5 Minute Princess Storybook and some easy readers.
Rapunzel's opening song lists all of the activities she does to keep herself busy so pretty much anything you do works for this theme!

Some activities Rapunzel keeps herself busy. Song in the link below.
Chores
Laundry
Sweep
Polish
Read a book
Painting
Guitar
Cook & Bake
Puzzles
Darts
Baking
Paper mache
Ballet
Chess
Pottery
Stretch
Sketch and brush and brush my hair
Tell me when will my life begin...
We choose chores and laundry of course. We then read books, did our school work, painted, did some puzzles, including Jenga (building a Rapunzel tower) and some ballet. Avery drew her own Rapunzel, those online art classes are apparently pretty good.
Rapunzel snacks included Rapunzel Towers, Pascale's Pizza, Rapunzel Braids, Max's Apples and Sun Punch. These are all just cute names for the leftovers I served for lunch and dinner. Because I have a dream my kids will actually eat it.
There are some amazing looking recipes for braided bread and lantern making crafts that looked awesome but too complicated for my day. Sure hope to get out of our tower soon!
