I LOVE the theater and it has rubbed off on my girls. They enjoy watching and participating in all kinds of shows. They had just started rehearsals for a Frozen Production that has now been postponed indefinitely. I think it will be some time before we get to see live theater again. So, this theme was near and dear to our hearts. It was a treat to give ourselves a little theater magic today. The Show Must Go On!

I told the girls they could dress as any character they wanted. Several costume changes later, they both landed on their Greatest Showman outfits which look more like 1920's cigarette girl costumes to me, but hey they love them. We listened to some of our favorite musical soundtracks throughout the day. No one was impressed with my renditions of my favorite Broadway numbers.

I had some printables left from a movie night party that were perfect to decorate our concession stand. I found a whole set of red and white stripped napkins from a soccer team celebration. I finally found a use for these odd items and they are going to make their way into a lot of themes! My husband said I have officially gone over the top on this one which I am going to take as a compliment.

Our theater activities today were easy. Their Frozen production teachers had just sent some rehearsal videos to review. Bless these teachers who are putting in work without pay to help these kids stay busy and connected.

Earlier in the day, I had pulled out this great puppet show theater we had in the garage. I think my brother passed it down to us. It is one of those great toys that shamefully sits in the garage most of the time because it doesn't fit anywhere. The girls spent hours, I mean hours preparing this puppet show. They made signs, they turned the entire toy room into a theater, and rehearsed for hours. I have not had that much time to get work done since this lock down started, it was glorious!

For dinner, we dressed in our finest show attire. Daddy picked up Hannas and we had a pre-Broadway fancy dinner that felt like old times. We anxiously headed upstairs to the premier of "Jungle Animals" which I gather is puppet musical theater production loosely based on Jungle Book.

Unfortunately, the Thursday night premier of "Jungle Animals" had to be postponed. Due to some creative differences between the two young directors (you know how creative types can be, such divas!) that led some dramatic tears. Theater management had to step in and shut it down. The dispute is currently in arbitration but we are hopeful for a weekend opening. I will keep you posted with my review after the curtain goes up.

Update- after some significant creative rewrites the show premiered Saturday evening to a full house and received a standing ovation from both Mommy & Daddy! We will be returning for the Sunday matinee.
