We are so blessed to be home and safe during these uncertain times. My themes have been fun, silly and a great distraction. I however, wanted to remind the kids to be grateful and have a day focused on doing things for others. Many of the things we had on our list couldn't be fully executed given the shelter in place order but we were able to do a few things.

1) After the pledge and calendar, each school morning I start off by asking them a question and have them write in their journal. The question is usually related in some way to our theme. Today I asked them to write about someone they loved.

2) Making cards- we have been doing this daily and we made a ton of cards today. Cards for family, friends, and local doctors/firefighters.

3) We collected extra towels and blankets to donate to an animal shelter at a later date.

4) We collected old toys to donate at a later date.

5) We baked several dozen cookies and brownies and we finally used our baking boxes. One of those many things I have been trying to do for months and now have the time to do. We dropped off some cookies on the porch of several neighbors

6)We made some scarfs from old fabric. We made these in Avery's class over the holidays to donate the Ronald McDonald house. I don't know what we will do with them now but they felt good about making them.

7) We called family members and friends

I have included a great list I found on line. Some can't be done with social distancing but we were able to do many. I really hope to focus more on thinking of others.
