Other than watching Dinosaur Train, my girls have never cared much for dinosaurs. So, I was surprised when Elise requested a dinosaur day. My knowledge of dinosaurs ends with having watched one Jurassic Park movie. But I was excited for today because I had some loose tie ins up my sleeve. To prep for our day, the girls helped convert our animal display into a dinosaur display. Avery made a great sign and she was so proud!

My first thought was what could I possibly do for a dino day? Then I realized we did have a few great books. We also had a great National Geographic book on dinosaurs in our upstairs "library". In addition, we love the book Connor's Dinosaur. The book is about the legendary dinosaur on Balboa Island.

I was excited about our craft today. We made another paper plate craft. I have said it before, I love paper plate crafts! They are so simple and for some reason, they always come out just as cute as the Pinterest sample. You paint, let dry, and then put them together, For this one, we added some toilet paper rolls for feet. I am now saving TP rolls and egg cartons for crafting days. Daddy made a dinosaur model when he was little and he has kept it all these years, they enjoyed putting their dinos with Daddy's.

Dinosaur snacks were simple and fun. By now I have found 10 ways to name sandwiches, pizza, and nuggets. It makes making the same lunch over and over again a little less monotonous. Bless all of the printables I have purchased off Etsy over the years! https://www.etsy.com/listing/526406270/dinosaur-food-label-instant-download?ref=yr_purchases Our snacks included Dinosaur Eggs, Prehistoric Pizza, Brontosaurus Bites, Herbivore Food, and Swamp Juice.

One of my loose tie ins was decorating dinosaur eggs. I could only find brown eggs this year so this was my way to gloss over the fact that our eggs were going to look different, hey kids they are dino eggs! I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the came out. The yellow and the orange didn't look the best but the pinks, purples, and blues really looked cool. You also need to leave them in for much longer than white eggs but they worked just fine.

My other loose tie in was dino bath bombs. So I bought these on accident when I meant to buy unicorn bath bombs. This was one of those late night Amazon purchase mishaps for Elise's birthday. I hadn't gotten around to returning them and they were sitting in my closet. I thought these would be perfect to tie into our day. They even came with cards so you could identify which dino you had. So my great plan went down the drain, literally. The dinos were so small that one went right down the drain. When I end up needing an emergency plumber in the middle of a pandemic we will all know who to blame. Then the bath bomb completely stained my tub so I had to spend the evening scrubbing it after the kids went to bed.

In the end, we had a great day and we all learned a lot about dinosaurs. We read and selected our two favorites. I can now name more than two dinosaurs and can even spell Tyrannosaurus. I thought today was a Dino-mite!
